I like the flavored water idea...and I like "Vitamin Water "even better. Yesterday I sucked down two of the buggers before a big radio show and I was BRILLIANT! and SLENDER!
reply to Fortuna send this answer to a friendI heard that most of the time when someone is constantly hungry, it's really a sign that they are dehydrated. Try having a full glass of water and if you are still hungry have some grapes. Those things fill you up faster than you'd think. Also, always have a glass of water before mealtime, as it helps with portion control.
reply to AJ send this answer to a friendwow these are some great ideas. you might be a super taster which i am, it means you have more taste buds on your tongue then most people so you taste everything at %1000 and its crazy, so the bad part is we usually tend to be overweight because of it, but at resaurants i like to order appetizers because i get to have a little of each thing. see the E Jean video, she said you shouldn't deprieve yourself just have a bit of what you desire to rid the craving, maybe you could fill up on that vita water first or seltzer, mmm, seltzer... lemon-lime.
reply to esther send this answer to a friendI heard eating an apple before each meal helps. It's starchy enough to fill you up but healthy enough it cuts down on the calories you take in overall.
There is no reason to stop enjoying food. You just have to train your body to stop when it should. reply to Layla send this answer to a friendIn my expert medical opinion, you are boredom eating. Just slow down your eating. Make sure you take at least half an hour to eat. That's how long it takes your body to realise you are full. Don't eat in front of the telly. BE AWARE of what you're eating. Drink lots of cold water. You'll feel fuller.
reply to S. send this answer to a friendIthaca huh? That's only a couple hours from me I think!
Try eating lots of fiber too, I've heard. reply to Lolly send this answer to a friendA lot of people are addicted to the taste of food because it's a safe addiction that they use in place of other things.
Some people get hooked on eating out of boredom or for more personal reasons like needing/wanting attention. Eating has become a substitute for some men and women where affection or relationships lack and for some extreme cases, eating is a form of self abuse. A slow, hard form of it. Maybe something is lacking and your love for food is taking it's place? It may sound harsh, but these are all real issues and possibilities. Instead of grabbing food when you get a craving, force yourself to drink water instead. You may potty more often than you like, but you'll be hydrated, your skin and hair will benefit, and you won't be gaining any extra pounds or risk doing so. reply to Rhiannon send this answer to a friendMaybe this article will help:
Can what we eat make us happy? — by Catherine Morgan Sure it can….chocolate, ice cream, mac & cheese, pizza, french fries! We known these as “comfort foods”, and they make us happy, right? Well….No. We think “comfort foods” will make us happy, and that is why so many of us “emotional eaters” also become overweight. So, if “comfort foods” don’t make you happy…..What foods will make you happy? The answer is: Just about ALL the “healthy foods”……fruits, vegetables, whole grains, lean meats and fish, nuts……basically, all the low sugar, low fat, and non-processed foods. None of us can really change the fact that we are “emotional eaters”. I never did understand how knowing you are an “emotional eater” could make you stop being an “emotional eater”….I think it’s because it doesn’t. However, we can make a conscious choice to re-think what we consider “comfort foods”. We just need to replace the traditional idea of “comfort foods” with what we already know are “healthy foods”. It’s really just a matter of habit. THE PLAN: Pick four our five of you favorite “healthy foods”, and make sure you always keep them on hand. Then pick the four or five “junk foods” you normally turn to in a crisis, and make sure they are never on hand (another-words, don’t buy them). Now you are all set….the next time you want to “pig-out” because you are lonely, angry, or bored….just grab something from your new stash of “healthy comfort foods”. Hope this helps. reply to Catherine send this answer to a friendEat raw (or steamed) vegetables before you hit your main course. They'll fill you up more for almost nil calories, they're good for you and then you'll slow down and enjoy your main course more because you're not wolfing it down.
reply to Claire send this answer to a friendAre you sure you're not eating tons of carbs? I found when all I ate was carbs, I was ALWAYS hungry. I actually would feel faint and like if I didn't eat NOW I would fall over. I'd get nauseously hungry. I HAD to eat. That was until my friend's mom pointed out that she too felt that way when she ate all carbs, all the time. I quit that, and guess what? Not so hungry all the time anymore.
Also, drink water. Lots of water. All the time water. Water water water. That will help. Watch the soda and the orange juice. Both make you want more. And more. And then for soda I need salty foods to cut the sweet, and yeah, I end up eating too damn much. If you're really and truly hungry, eat protein. Eat something healthy. That will fill you up completely and you'll not want more and more snacks. Eat appetizer sized foods. More and more appetizers are the size of a meal anyway, so it's not like you're eating rabbit-sized portions. Or, get an entree, split it in half, and get half wrapped up immediately to take home. reply to D send this answer to a friendStart chewing gum!
Chewing mint, sugarfree gum makes your teeth healthier and will help stop that need-to-eat feeling. reply to Stephanie send this answer to a friend |
